Hi! I'm Joyce

Framer Template for Product UX Designer

Creativity has always been at the core of who I am. As a teenager, I was the person with a camera in hand, sketching ideas, designing clothes for my little sister, and experimenting with every creative tool I could find. I was always curious about technology and design, and I knew I wanted a life where I could build meaningful experiences. Life moved quickly though. I stepped into adulthood early, helped raise my siblings, and had to move straight into work.

I built my early career in hospitality and real estate so I could build stability. What I did not expect was how deeply I would fall in love with the human side of that work. I listened. I problem solved. I led teams. I supported people in moments of stress, transition, and daily life. Those years sharpened my empathy, strengthened my leadership, and rooted me in what I still believe today. People deserve experiences that feel thoughtful, supportive, and clear.

Over time, design began to pull me back. I started freelancing, taking on creative work, building websites, organizing content, photographing products, and helping businesses tell their stories. I returned to school for Interaction Design, earned an internship, and fully transitioned into UX. It felt natural. It felt like home. It brought together creativity, technology, empathy, strategy, and leadership into one place where I could truly make an impact.

Today, I design and lead user experience work across large-scale digital products. I partner closely with product and engineering teams. I solve complex problems with clarity and care. I build experiences that are intuitive, scalable, and grounded in real human needs. I have worked across startups, e-commerce platforms, and enterprise systems, and I am proud of the impact my work has had on both users and businesses.

At my core, I am still that curious, creative teenager who wanted to design something meaningful. Now I simply have the experience, leadership, and perspective to do it at scale.

Travel

Travel has shaped a huge part of who I am. I love exploring new cultures, learning how other people live, and seeing how design, beauty, and community show up in different parts of the world. I have traveled through Italy, France, Morocco, India, Singapore, Amsterdam, and Mexico, and every place has changed me in some way. I am always chasing new experiences, good food, great conversation, and the feeling of being somewhere completely new.

Places on my dream list include Japan, Korea, and a return trip to Italy because I truly fell in love with it.

Community

Community matters to me just as much as my work. Early in my life, I was part of Team In Training, a running group that raised money for cancer research while training for marathons together. It taught me discipline, teamwork, accountability, and what it means to show up for people.

Today, I stay connected through Beers & Cameras, a photography community that started in San Diego and is now worldwide. I am one of the co-hosts for the original founding chapter here. We gather twice a month, explore new locations, support each other creatively, and help keep the photography community alive and connected.

What Inspires Me

I love learning. I love curiosity. And I love stories. Reading has always been a big part of my life. I read everything from UX and design thinking to crime, thrillers, and romance. I balance practicality with imagination, which feels very true to who I am.

I also listen to podcasts regularly. Some of my favorites include Future of UX, The NN/g UX Podcast, No Stupid Questions, On Purpose, and Crime Junkie. They keep me thinking, laughing, learning, and exploring new perspectives even when life is busy.

My Little Family

Life feels especially full these days. I am newly engaged to my best friend, and we are building this next chapter together with a lot of joy and intention. Our home would not be complete without Kaj, our sweet and hilarious Miniature Bull Terrier, who keeps us smiling every single day.

This part of my life matters because it keeps me balanced, grateful, and grounded. It shapes how I show up as a leader and as a designer, because it reminds me what truly matters: people, care, presence, and building things with intention.
